How do you get inspired to write? First, let me thank you for inviting me to appear on The Ripple Effect. It's an honor to be interviewed, and I'm excited to introduce myself to your readership. Thank you for this opportunity. I've been inspired to write since story first captivated me as a child. Every night either my father or mother would tell me a story or read me a book before bedtime. I was an only child for the first seven years of my life, and we lived in the quiet town of Vestal, NY. I spent a lot of time hiking in the woods with my dog, Treasure. Reading allowed me to travel around the world and into other galaxies without leaving the safety of our home. Robert Lewis Stevenson was my favorite author, and Treasure Island excited me and spurred my writing career. I wrote books from the age of six—although using the term “books” is a stretch, since they were ten or twenty-page stories with construction paper covers about anthropomorphized animals on adven...

Peste Noire – L’Ordure a l’Etat Pur

I’m just going to right up front about this. French black metal makes my dick hard. Give me some Blut Aus Nord, Merrimack, or Deathspell Omega (best band name ever IMHO) and I’m a happy, happy guy. I can’t tell you what it is that the French do with black metal that makes it a little bit different than other countries, but it definitely hits the sweet spot for me. And lo and behold, here is a French band that I’m not familiar with, Peste Noire , but they definitely do it for me. This is not for the faint of heart, as there are some long track lengths to deal with, the music is schizophrenic at times, and some of these tracks go down a rabbit hole that seems to just go deeper and deeper. But it always ends well and it’s a very entertaining ride. I got a chuckle out of the band credits, because one guy is actually credited with “chicken imitation”. I kid you not. The Angels (Angel City): Face to Face

Nobody will deny that AC/DC 's riffs can shatter concrete and that their boogie rocking blues makes for some good times, but if you're searching for something with lyrical content beyond songs about women's butts and groupies with the clap, Angel City is the band for you. Amazingly huge and known as the Angels in Australia , they had to adopt the moniker Angel City in America due to the dying glam band, Angel fronted by Greg Guiffria. This nomenclature schizophrenia would torment the band throughout it's existence, once forcing them to take up the unruly moniker of The Angels from Angel City . But don't let the name confusion steer you away from what they have to offer. No matter what they called themselves The Angles knew how to rock and Face to Face , a compilation of the best songs from their two prior mega-platinum Australian releases, is a great place to lose yourself in their particular brand of madness.
