First forming in 2007, Disastroid carries on through the
efforts of Enver Koneya (vocals/guitars), Travis Williams (bass), and Braden
McGaw (drums) along with their love of Godzilla movies, EHX products, and the
Man’s Ruin Records catalog. Since then, Disastroid is a staple and heralded
force in their local heavy music community. Screen consists of songwriting from
multiple derivatives of sub-genres in the heavy music world, making it
difficult to narrowly classify these guys. Too fast to be sludge, not heavy
enough for stoner rock, and too metal for grunge.
Illustration created in house by Travis Williams, capturing
the irony and sad reality of our incoporating of technology into our daily
lives, and the consequences it carries.
Press Quotes:
“For anyone that’s never heard these guys before, their genre
bending music and tone is something a fan of Amphetamine Reptile Records would
embrace.” – (New Noise Magazine)
“It’s not that Disastroid is particularly heavy, it’s just
that when they hit…they hit hard!” – (The Sludgelord)
“Disastroid takes
elements of sludge, noise rock, stoner, post-hardcore and fuzz, and
successfully mixes these together to create a very attractive sound.” – (Echoes
& Dust)
“If you ask Disastroid to describe themselves, they’ll
probably shrug you off. Bring them your sludge-rock fans, metalheads and jaded
hipsters. They’re not above or below you.” – (Thrasher Magazine)
Disastroid has toured up and down the West Coast performing
alongside Eagles Of Death Metal, Fatso Jetson, Helmet, Church Of Misery,
Saviours, Oxbow, Ides Of Gemini, and many more.
