Place of Skulls "Nailed" (exclusive LP reissue) Out December 11th on Ripple Music

American doom metal band PLACE OF SKULLS (fronted by former Pentagram guitarist Victor Griffin) is set to issue their 2002 debut album "Nailed" on vinyl for the first time in a fully remixed and remastered version, as part of Ripple Music's "Beneath the Desert Floor" reissue series. A must-have for fans, it features alternate vocal takes and lead guitar tracks on select songs, offering a brand new window into this doom metal classic. Packed with heavy, grooving tracks alongside a haunting cover of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" (made popular by The Animals), Nailed perfectly balances raw power with intricate songwriting. Two and a half decades later, it remains a pillar of American doom metal and has never sounded as alive as it will on wax!

Place of Skulls was formed in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2000 by guitarist/vocalist Victor Griffin following his departure from metal stalwarts Pentagram, along with former Death Row bassist, Lee Abney, and powerhouse drummer Tim Tomaselli. The three set out to fuse Victor's distinctive, down-tuned riffage with lyrics often centered on themes of tribulation, redemption, and the band's Christian faith.

The path to Nailed was a lesson in resilience. After tracking the album with producer Travis Wyrick at Lakeside Studios in Knoxville, it was originally set for release on the infamous Man’s Ruin Records label. When that label suddenly collapsed, the album's future was left in limbo. Thanks to an intervention by mutual friend Guy Pinhas (The Obsessed, Goatsnake, In-graved), the master tapes landed in the eager hands of Greg Anderson, head of Southern Lord Records. An agreement was reached and the band re-entered the studio for some additional tracking. When all was said and done, Nailed was finally released worldwide in the fall of 2001.
