Forget innovation, forget progress – Electric Wizard don’t need that shit. They already built the dungeon. This 12" is pure necro-doom straight from the smoke-choked pits of England, remastered filth and fuzz, a middle finger pressed on wax. Legalise Drugs and Murder – the title alone is the manifesto.
The opener “Legalise Drugs & Murder” hits like a slow-motion guillotine. One riff. Eternal. Crushing you until your brain is nothing but buzzing static. It reeks of Witchcult Today, sure, but that’s like complaining that beer still tastes like beer – IT’S SUPPOSED TO. “Satyr IX” drags you into the swamp, dripping with occult slime, slower than death itself. Then “Murder & Madness” – holy hell – this is doom porn: wah-soaked feedback orgy, the soundtrack to some banned Italian splatter flick that never made it out of the basement.
Flip the slab, and Side B is even nastier. “Patterns of Evil” creeps like mold up your spine, “Lucifer (we’ve gone too far)” is the exact moment the trip flips and you know you’re never coming back, and you don’t fucking care. And closer “Our Witchcult Grows…”? That’s not a song, that’s a proclamation – a cult anthem, scrawled in blood, spat in the face of everything clean and holy.
Yeah, it’s familiar. Yeah, they’re feeding you their own poison again. BUT THIS IS ELECTRIC FUCKING WIZARD. They are doom. No Electric Wizard, no smoke-filled basements, no riffs like collapsing cathedrals, no goddamn life. Sabbath lit the fire, Sleep kept it burning, but Electric Wizard? They turned it into a goddamn inferno.
Legalise Drugs and Murder isn’t a release. It’s a curse. A sermon. A religion. Drop the needle, kill the lights, spark the smoke, and drown in the riff.
ALL HAIL THE WIZARD.
