US doom and heavy rock trio CRYSTAL SPIDERS shares new single "Blue Death"; new album "Metanoia" out May 23rd on Ripple Music!
East Coast doom rock trio CRYSTAL SPIDERS unveils a new video taken from their third full-length "Metanoia", to be released on May 23rd through Ripple Music.
Vocalist Brenna Leath comments: "Blue Death introduces a surreal, almost dreamlike quality as a tongue-in-cheek modernized parable of Poe’s Gothic short story 'The Masque of the Red Death', addressing society’s tendency to fall prey to the hypnotic allure of technology without questioning the motives behind the dream machines."

Riding the tides of doom-laden riffs and intoxicating grooves, Crystal Spiders returns with their highly anticipated third album, "Metanoia" on Ripple Music. Known for their alchemical blend of heavy metal and psychedelic soundscapes, the North Carolina power trio delves deeper into the abyss, exploring themes of transcendentalism and expansion in a collection of gritty and beautiful tracks. On "Metanoia", the trio masterfully intertwines searing NWOBHM guitar solos, thunderous fuzzed-out basslines, and howling vocal harmonies.
The album's title, derived from the ancient Greek word for a transformative change of heart, encapsulates a journey of transcending boundaries and venturing into uncharted territories while blending personal introspection and broader societal commentary into a dark, poetic and highly evocative imagery and lyricism. "Overall, "Metanoia" is a profound exploration of the human condition, using powerful imagery and introspective lyrics to invite listeners on a transformative journey. The song "Torche" sets the tone with its visceral depiction of a primal struggle, using fire and light as symbols of both conflict and illumination," says bassist and vocalist Brenna Leath.
"Metanoia" was produced at Volume 11 Studios by Mike Dean (Corrosion of Conformity) in Raleigh, NC, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Mastering Studios. Artwork by Tyler Pennington and graphics by Mark Aceves. Watch their latest "Torche" video at this location!
Crystal Spiders "Metanoia"
Out May 23rd on Ripple Music (LP/CD/digital) - Preorder
Crystal Spiders emerged in 2019 as the brainchild of bassist and vocalist Brenna Leath, who wanted to explore a new creative path after years of performing with Lightning Born. Quickly establishing themselves as pioneers of a new breed of heavy rock and stoner doom, their first self-recorded demo secured them a spot on The Obelisk’s yearly ranking of short releases, followed up shortly by a debut album release with Ripple Music.
Building on the foundations laid by legends from Black Sabbath and Judas Priest to Fu Manchu, Kyuss, Windhand and beyond with an innovative approach, Crystal Spiders infuse the best elements of both classic rock and heavy metal dynamics with a hazy, psychedelic, doomed-out edge, resulting in a raw blend of powerhouse vocals, fuzzed-out bass lines, and shredding guitar dubbed “captivating and enchanting, whilst being bloody brilliant in equal measure” by The Razor’s Edge.
Having earned both global critical acclaim and the support of a diverse, growing fanbase extending well beyond their North Carolina roots over multiple singles, two full-length albums — "Molt" and "Morieris" — and a slew of electric gigs to date, Crystal Spiders’ momentum is now at an all-time high as they prepare for their biggest year yet. An eagerly-awaited third full-length album "Metanoia" and an appearance at Maryland Doom Fest are already on the horizon for 2025, with tour dates forthcoming.
