Kayleth ★ New Babylon

With their latest album "New Babylon", Kayleth, who have been enriching the stoner-scene from Verona, Italy, since 2005, take another significant step in their musical journey. The album skillfully pushes the boundaries of classic stoner rock, unfolding a grand, almost psychedelic odyssey that immerses the listener in a dense universe of powerful riffs and cosmic sounds. While their roots are firmly planted in the crushing guitars of stoner rock icons like Kyuss and Monster Magnet, Kayleth creates a unique dimension of heavy rock with their use of atmospheric and futuristic sounds.

From the very first chords of "New Babylon", it's clear that the band is not merely revisiting the classic stoner sound, but pushing it into new, unexplored territories. The riffs are forceful and earthy, reminiscent of the iconic desert rock sound, but the album's true strength lies in the expansive, psychedelic atmosphere that Kayleth weaves throughout each track. Dense space synths merge with heavy grooves, creating a sonic landscape that deepens and intensifies with every passing second.

With each song, the Italians demonstrate their impressive sonic power. "The Throne" and the monumental "Giant’s March" open the album with epic, wide soundscapes that immediately hint at the grand scope of Kayleth's musical vision. "Megalodon" evolves into a stormy anthem, charging forward with dynamic force, while "Cyber Slaves" takes the listener to the genre's outer limits with its cosmic energy, drawing clear comparisons to Hawkwind. The unmistakable sound of Monster Magnet remains a strong influence throughout, giving the album a sharp, distinctive edge.

And let's be honest, an album with dinosaurs, UFOs, astronauts and laser beams on the cover is an absolute must!!!
