What was the first instrument that you played?
Flute and classical guitar
Tell me about one of your first musical memories?
My mom used to play guitar and my aunt played the piano, so I was lucky to have role models in my family since I was born. They used to listen to a lot of rock bands from Argentina in the 80’s and early 90’s.
What was the name of the first band you were in?
Weebegones or just “WBG”, an all-female punk band in 2002 in Tierra del Fuego.
Tell me about the genesis of Fin del Mundo.
Tita (the drummer) and I used to play in another band before, since 2016. Then in 2019 we decided to start a new band to explore other sounds, so we summoned Yanina to play bass and started making a few songs. We needed a singer/guitarist to complete the line-up but we did not audition or look too much around, so we were very lucky to meet Lucía by chance, who was perfect for that role.
What inspired the name Fin del Mundo?
I grew up on an island (Tierra del Fuego) near the southernmost city in the world, so I saw that name almost every day, that means “end of the world” in a geographical way.
How long did it take you to write and record Todo va hacia el mar?
“Todo va hacia el mar” is a compilation album of our first two EPs, so we wrote and recorded the first part in 2019 and the second part in 2021.
If you could insert yourself into any one band what band would it be and why?
Built to Spill, I know most of the songs and it would be a dream to play a second guitar with the new members.
Have you ever heard a song and immediately wished you had written it? If so… What was the song and artist?
“Your hand in mine” by Explosions in the Sky.
Do you have any pop music musical inspirations?
We listen to underground or indie music mainly, and our songs don’t usually follow a classic structure with verse/chorus. Maybe we have some influences from pop music but I couldn’t name one.

Sunday Morning - The Velvet Underground

The year is 2006. Where are you at and what are you listening to?
I’m in Buenos Aires at Niceto Club or Teatro Empire listening to my favorite local band, Los Natas
What advice would you give young musicians that are just starting out in the music business?
It might seem hard at the beginning but when you find your own voice everything happens, or at least you start to enjoy it. Also never stop trying new pedals, everything sounds better.
What is an absolute band killer?
When you stop making democratic or equal decisions
Have you ever recorded a song that you really didn’t like, but somebody else in the band really did?
Maybe with other bands, always playing just for fun so every member should have a song they really like
If you were to start your own music festival what would be the name of that festival and who would be the three headlining bands?
“Silent H” with Explosions in the Sky, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Mogwai
What’s the longest time you’ve gone without bathing?
Maybe 5 days
