What we know so far is that the Covid-19 virus cannot stop
the love of music. It will not infect our bandcamp brotherhood or hold us back
on sharing our favorite albums. F-you Corona Virus, Bandcamp Bonanza remains
healthy and immune to your bull shit. Dig in guys!
TWIN WIZARD – GLACIAL GODS
Twin Wizard bring an element of melody and groove that was
not as prominent in Telekinetic Yeti. Rather than bludgeon us to death with
brute volume, Twin Wizard casts a rather catchy rhythm and melodic grit
sounding as if The Sword and Red Fang reunited as long-lost brethren riffing
under prehistoric fields of craggy peaks and perilous skies.
TIME RIFT – ETERNAL ROCK
Eternal Rock wastes no time in showing off its high-end
prowess. Soaring with molten melody and hard-driving hook, the rhythm maintains
riffy groove and the “hey heys” and “yeah yeahs” leave heads rolling and boots
stomping.
ROOKIE – ROOKIE
As much classic rock as it is alt country. Smooth and catchy
with clever songsmithing through and through. I wouldn’t expect anything less
for a band on the Bloodshot Records roster.
MIRACLE GLASS COMPANY – MGC2
Discovered these guys via another kick ass rock
band’s recommendations link on their bandcamp page. This is indeed old school
rock and roll for the soul beaming with progressive hook and enticing groove.
Imagine Thin Lizzy and the Beatles decided to go on tour with Steve Miller and
a combined trio of noise.
THE BURNING BRAIN BAND – THE BURNING BRAIN BAND
This really burns my brain in a groovy infectious way. The
tempo is hypnotic with a dynamic aura of influences and progressive
musicianship through and through. Favorite track: Brain Food.
WØR PIGS– BEASTS
WØRPIGS troop onto the aural battlefield with bludgeoning
fuzz, robust vocals and a chilling atmosphere looming with divinity. Beasts is
winning the war on riffs and doing so in style.
SUGAR VIRUS – WOLF’S BREATH
We gave this out as a freebie over at Doom Charts last week
and boy was it a hit. For whatever reason I never gave this the attention it
deserved when released despite the rave reviews from folks I know in the
underground circles. This is the perfect combination of hardcore punk rock
meets modern stoner doom. And much like the classic heavy albums it
incorporates both heavy and soft throughout for a complete album full of highs
and lows and excellent musicianship. Cool vinyl options still available too.
HIGH GRAIN – HIGH GRAIN EP
High Grain bring a progressive and melodic heavy rock output
to the forefront. At times a bit raspy, others spacey, and overall downright
bad ass, this 'Demo EP' is better than most full lengths on the market today in
the genre. Favorite track: While the Karma sleeps.
WAILIN STORMS – ONE FOOT IN THE FLESH GRAVE
While I found these guys via their preorder for upcoming album and killer track ‘Grass” streaming, I went down the rabbit hole and blew
my own mind with how awesome this band is. There is an underlying twang
thumping beneath the dark and doomy goth giving these guys a leg up in the realm
of grunge meets punk with the other foot firmly planted in a grave of beefy
tone and somber texture. The Doors meet The Misfits at the funeral of 16
Horsepower.
COLTRE – UNDER THE INFLUENCE
What a refreshing debut EP loaded with traditional proto-metal
riffs and high-end precision. The guitars chop and vocals soar in the vein of
Dio era Rainbow. Any fan of old school metal should appreciate this one.
THE GONERS – GOOD MOURNING
Last but certainly not least The Goners with their debut
full length album are about the make some major waves. Comprised of members of Salem’s Pot and the
Swedish band Yvonnne, and offered up by the cult label Riding Easy Records. The
best part of waking up is wake-and-baking up to a heavy psychedelic beach van
tone, swirling with a rowdy swagger and occult vibrations. For those that could
never fully get into Salem’s
Pot, perhaps The Goners are your bag. For those that love Salem’s Pot well, you’ll find a hard time not
enjoying this new project just as much if not more.
