HOLDEN TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM

Emerging from the storied Richmond, VA metal scene is HOLDEN, a post/doom metal band seeking to unveil crushing riffs and pure sonic desolation. The band, named after the mysterious character of Judge Holden in Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian, initially came together to craft an album that celebrates the heaviest elements metal has to offer presented with the highest of recorded sound quality. The band spent over a year meticulously crafting Ursa Minor an album that builds on their collective musical past, merging a wide array of elements from prog metal to blackened death.

This intimate recording and creation process has birthed an album with an enormous sound that represents a fusion of groups like Camel and Isis by way of heavy hitters such as Yob and Conan. Judge’s lyrics blend personal elements of frontman/guitarist Palmer Sturman’s life with topics that focus on the current state of society and our increased isolation in the modern age. Sam Berson (bass) and Michael Arcane (drums) forge a rumbling, oppressively heavy rhythm section that drives the massive Judge sound. The meticulous care of the mixing and mastering, and the decision not to squash it all with compression and limiting, results in a highly professional sounding album whose fans can hear and feel every crushing note.

Ursa Minor will be released on May 8th 2020.

More information will be available soon.
