Jesse Brewster - March Of Tracks

Twelve.  Twelve months in a year.  Twelve tribes of Israel. Twelve disciples of Christ.  Twelve days of Christmas.  The human body has twelve cranial nerves.  The Zodiac is comprised of twelve signs.  Twelve is also the basis for Jesse Brewster's most recent project, March Of Tracks.

You may remember Brewster from my review of his prior release, Wrecking Ball At The Concert Hall. He is a cowboy-tinged outlaw rocker, but without the hat, bandelero and pistols.  For the March Of Tracks project Brewster will write, record and release one single every month from March 2013 to February 2014 at Soundcloud, and will collectively release the singles as a complete album in March 2014. Twelve tracks twelve months.  In an interview with Brewster reported by "wobblehouse," Brewster was asked about the project:

Man, it’s a departure as far as the process of making a record goes. On the last album much of it was tracked live, with the same 5 people. Now I’m using a multitude of players, studios, engineers and gear, and it’s been incredible. I’ve been hand picking my favorite West Coast players for each song that plays to their individual strengths. Being able to focus 100% on one song at a time is so refreshing. There is the ever present and motivating factor of my own self-imposed deadlines (new song released 1st Tues. of every month) which can be a little stressful. But it’s also a response to the demand for single songs- don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of albums and will make more in the traditional way in the future, but this time I want to get my music out there in the most effective way, and have gotten a great response so far. What was daunting was the idea of starting work on a 12 song album that people wouldn’t be able to hear any of for 6 to 9 months. Ah the world of instant gratification!

Yes, instant gratification!  I'm all for that.

The tracks released so far have been amazing.  What you get is a great voice, wonderful songwriting, impeccable arrangements and world class musicianship.  I'll take that any day.  You can take it the first Tuesday of every month and look forward to the next month's installment of Jesse Brewster's March Of Tracks.

Twelve is a sublime number.  It has a perfect number of divisors and the sum of its divisors is also a perfect number.  Each track is also a perfect number.  The tracks pulled together as an album should be as sublime as the number twelve.

I have been a Jesse Brewster fan for many years. His, lyrics, arrangements & fine musicianship along with picking the best players in the S.F. Bay Area to accompany him never let me down. I look forward to each new song and am delighted every time. Can't wait for next months release!!!
