Ripple News - Ajay Malghan Musical Journey - The Long Way Home

As any good waverider knows, we're open to any form of music here at the Ripple Effect, as long as it moves us. And this gorgeous, lovingly created project does just that.

Multimedia artist Ajay Malghan culled on his experiences of traveling 35,000 miles in 3 months to create the photo book/soundtrack titled The Long Way Home. Faced with hip surgery upon the completion of his travels he did what any other unreasonable person would, he recorded an album in crutches. Ajay recorded and engineered the album himself with the limitations of one take with no punch ins, minimal overdubs and writing on the spot. What followed were gorgeous, sparse arrangements and melodies that echoedhis travels across the United States and southern India. The book consists of images taken in Death Valley, White Sands New Mexico, Joshua Tree, Kansas, Colorado, India and everywhere in between. Combining the two crafts of music and photography is nothing new in the realm of the art world but its rare when one artist can create every piece from the conception.

Beautiful acoustic based passages. Stunning photographs. It really is worth taking a look.
