HOT NEW BANDS ON WINSTONS ZENDAR
I don’t often use quotes from a bands promotional blurb on this site, let alone start a whole post with one, but with sixties throwbacks The Junior Victors stylised rock n roll comes a certain air of nostalgic mystery that’s left me with little choice. So here goes;
Open the time capsule that these London boys have so kindly buried for us and you’ll discover a band adaptable enough to slip, with comfortable ease between swaying sixties groove and swaggering T-Rex a-like sixties rock. Spotting a common theme yet? You ought to be. It’s almost impossible to describe the Victors sound without making reference to a whole host of seminal artists from the decade that swung like no other.
But to save Winston’s Zen’s younger readers frantically Googling The Small Faces, The Who, and Dexy’s Midnight Runners in an attempt to catch up, try imagining The Coral and Supergrass got together and taught the The Kooks about cool by playing them Black Keys records for a month and you’ll know exactly what to expect.
Try out Lose Control and Jeannie, below, two demos available as free downloads from the bands MySpace which serve as a fantastic introduction.
The Junior Victore - Lose Control
The Junior Victors - Jeannie
The Junior Victors have a limited edition four track EP Juvenile which you can also
get from their MySpace page and are currently playing shows at venues across London including a support slot for Mark Morris of Bluetones fame at the Hoxton Bar and Kitchen, Shoreditch.
Or you can catch the boys playing an acoustic set at Barbequtie, a new Sunday afternoon shindig (with BBQ and retro clothes sale!) hosted by Boogaloo in Highgate tomorrow afternoon (Sun 20th). Expect something along the lines of the video below, Walters Blues
Do yourself a favour, go get the London look.

Winston

...Let me tell you a little about The Junior Victors…
"Imagine Gary Wilmot wrestling a bear on the top of a Lidl
for a rare Faberge Egg that looks strikingly like Jagger"
This is how the band like to describe their music,
although a more accurate description would be ....
an IndiePunkRockRollPowerPop extravaganza....
