Tell me about one of your first musical memories?

Sitting in my room with my four track and turning it into a 6-track in writing some of the first Ryan's Ballroom project. [It] was so much fun spending hours and hours trying to figure out how to write songs, vocals, pictures - had a record. [I]f you can find it. Ryan's Ballroom was my first project release. It's hard to very enjoyable.

What inspired the name Ryan Cosmonaught?

My friend Damon who is diet of worms cuz I was pushing the space king project in Tampa Florida told me I should be Ryan cosmonaught.

That's pretty much how it was born.

How long did it take you to write and record Stars Are Coming?

Stars Are Coming took hours and hours and days and days to get everything where it needed to be. [I] couldn't really tell you the time frame but it took a hot minute. [I]t's one of the most proud albums I have put out in a very long time. I had so much fun doing it, there was no stress no headache it was so much fun can't wait to do another album.

If you could insert yourself into any one band what band would it be and why?

What band I would love to [have] been with and done stuff with was probably the Culture Club. [T]hat was the first cassette that I won down the Jersey Shore. [T]hat was the first album I've ever gotten in my life and I won it on the boardwalk so anybody in Jersey knows what I'm talking about. [B]ut yeah once I sat down, and, think I was 9 or 10 years old or something when that came out, and I just loved it. I love the sound - I thought every track was wonderful.

Have you ever heard a song and immediately wished you had written it?  If so… What was the song and artist?

I have never thought that, never thought man only if I wrote that song. [M]y brain doesn't work like that. [E]very song I create or a part of I'm so happy that I'm a part of doing something that is so magical and special and I think everybody who's written anything understands you can't go - could have, would have, should have, or wish I did this at that moment at that time. [W]hatever you're thinking, whatever your emotions are that's what I love about writing.

Do you have any metal musical inspirations?

Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Slayer, Anthrax, Overkill, m.o.d s.o.d, Metal Church, there's a lot of really cool metal bands that I love listening to when I was growing up.

What’s a metal song that you'd like to do a cover of?

I will never do a cover. [I]t's not the way I work, it's not the way I think. I'm an old school kind of performer. I love coming up with new ideas [and] love writing new stuff but for covers, I have a lot of friends that do them, but it's just not my jam.

What band have you played with that has really impressed you with their live show?

This is another one I don't have a favorite ever band I played with. [E]verybody I opened up for [or] did shows with, I have so much fun doing it. [J]ust to pick out the ones I like the best, I like them all sorry to disappoint you. I just love what I'm doing.

Do you have a favorite venue to play at?

No, I like playing all venues.

Do you have a pre-show ritual?

Never had a really weird experience on the road. I mean besides stopping in the casino, hitting a strip joint, going to a bar the night before hanging out and drinking but don't do nothing special.

The year is 1997.  Where are you at and what are you listening to?

1997 I'm in Tampa Florida going to Art School. [I] just started working on new songs for band Space King, starting to hang out at the local clubs the brass mug pink pony the castle in Ybor City. [T]hat's what I did in 1997.

What advice would you give young musicians that are just starting out in the music business?

Write some really cool songs, enjoy yourself cuz time goes quick, don't send demos out anymore, record full albums and send those out. [G]et yourself a PR Company to push your stuff and hope for the best that you get signed.

What is an absolute band killer?

Managers

Have you ever recorded a song that you really didn’t like, but somebody else in the band really did?

If I didn't like a song and somebody else did that's fine, I'll just work around it so I can make it sound like what I needed to sound like. [B]ut [I] don't really care, this isn't a feelings kind of a thing. [I]f I like it I like it, if I don't I don't.

If you were to start your own music festival what would be the name of that festival and who would be the three headlining bands?

I think I would call it the puddle of pop and crap. The three bands [would be] Slayer & Backstreet Boys & Vanilla Ice.

1 day

What’s one thing that most people don’t know about you?
