THE OIL BARONS ANNOUNCE DEBUT LP; WATCH VIDEO FOR FIRST SINGLE “VITCH”

Los Angeles stoner rock reprobates THE OIL BARONS have announced their debut LP The West is Won, set for release in early 2019.  The album is 10 tracks of fuzzed-out, ripping Heavy Rock.  If listened to in the right state of inebriation, a story unfolds over the two sides, and the entire experience will feel like a grand rock opera based on There Will Be Blood under the musical direction of Tom Waits.

The first single, “VITCH”, dropped just in time for All Hallow’s Eve.  It’s spooky!  It’s kooky!  It’s a heavy psychedelic incantation guaranteed to freak you out.  For those paying attention to the lyrics, it serves as a foreboding origin story for their Oil Baron character, succumbing to the black magic of the witch in exchange for earthly riches.  Guaranteed to please fans of Pink Floyd, the occult, Nick Cave, march tempos, 2015 film The VVITCH, and marijuana.  Take a listen here and lose your mind, guy.
The accompanying video for "VITCH", edited by Mike Api, is a trippy compilation of various clips from the 1922 Swedish-Danish silent horror film Häxan.  The potent imagery fits the song deliciously: witchcraft, group psychosis, black masses, medieval theology, and Satan himself.

FULL BIO

The Oil Barons were formed in early 2016 in Los Angeles, CA.  Andrew blew out a West a few years before, leaving Lou back in dirty NYC and their previous Rock and Roll venture defunct.  Well, Lou didn't take too kindly to that, so he hitched a wagon across the country and burned Andrew's house to the ground with a single guitar chord.  Jake was an old pro, attracted to the madness of these two reprobates, and when they found out he could play a kit, he was forced into band at gunpoint.

They became a riff-crazed Heavy Rock power trio.  Drawing from a deep well of influences ranging from Psych to Garage Rock to Doom Metal, the trio staked their claim across LA, becoming regulars at The Viper Room, The Satellite, Harvard & Stone, and any dive, saloon, or watering hole that could withstand their massive volume.

In 2018 the boys successfully conned their friends, family, and fans out of a cool $11,000.  Without even realizing it, these clueless dolts had funded a debut LP that was going to be lousy with guitar solos, time shifts, Old West theatrics, Hammond organ, and all manner of ungodly sound that's long gone out of fashion.  SUCKERS.  The album, entitled The West is Won, is set for release in early 2019.

"These guys are tonehonkers and motherfuckers...the last great Rock n' Roll band." - Jackson Wargo, Doughnut Records/Snowball II

"A unique and interesting rock band.  The music is complex, but not self-indulgent.  The attitude is punk, but not overly-careless...fills a void in rock music." - Jarrod Pedone, Indie Music Plus

"The new album...it's all fucking good.  Not a single bad song on the record." - Andrew Sanyshyn, The Psychic Wave
