As You Are Not The Ocean You Are The Patient, the impending
new full-length from Vancouver sludge practitioners BISON nears release, today
Decibel Magazine offers up latest single "Until The Earth Is Empty"
for public consumption.
"It's something my partner said to me in regards to
finding our sons, if they were taken or missing," offers guitarist/vocalist
James Farwell of the track. "It's the idea that you would look for
something or someone that you loved no matter how long it took, or until the
earth was empty. In her case that would also mean killing everyone in her path.
She is very passionate."
Adds Decibel, "You Are Not the Ocean is loaded with
sludgy, slow-but-focused riffs, melodic guitar solos, and heavy percussion, but
it's also emotionally heavy, as you can hear on new song 'Until The Earth Is
Empty.'"

Set for release in Europe on June 23rd followed by a North
American release on July 7th via Pelagic Records, You Are Not The Ocean You Are
The Patient follows the band's 2014-issued 1000 Needles EP and serves as their
first full-length to include bassist Shane Clark, former lead guitarist of 3
Inches Of Blood, who joined the band following their Lovelessness full-length (2012,
Metal Blade).
BISON's You Are Not The Ocean You Are The Patient was
captured in the band's hometown with longtime friend Jesse Gander at Rain City
Recorders. The record will be available on CD, vinyl, and digital formats. For

"It was important that the songs fit together to tell a
bit of a story," relays Farwell, "a story of a new life and escaping
the city, while still being tethered to it. Life is a constant fight, and
though I have taken the fight to a more natural and beautiful place, that
struggle persists. This is an album of daily living. It is for everyone. I
wanted to also steep myself in music that was not necessarily heavy in the obvious
sense," Farwell continues, "so I was listening to lots of blues while
writing the album: Peter Green, Muddy Waters, and Howlin' Wolf. There was also
lots of instrumental rock music playing on my long commutes to Vanceouver for
work and rehearsals."
BISON will embark up on a short run of Canadian dates next
month with additional live incursions to be announced in the coming weeks.
