Archers and Arrows new album Alone Together is an incredibly passionate piece of art. Combining raw punk vocals with high energy guitar and hooks, this band strives to capture the intensity of a band like Lower than Atlantis with the beauty of a band like Thrice. It works.
There are countless moments that are memorable in this album. However, this band is at its best in songs like Sing to the Wind. In this song the band starts out a bit lighter. The vocals are toned down a bit at the beginning and are surrounding a beautiful guitar riff being backed by the chunky riffs from the incredible rhythm section.
Then they punch in the crunch. It gives you a ride and doesn’t let go. You never know what you’re going to get when listening to these guys, and that’s a good thing. If you enjoyed the first Thursday album, you’ll love this.
It seems as though the “punk” genre has become two-fold. There are the famous pop-punk bands like Greenday and Blink 182, and then there are the heavy underground punk bands like Jowls who rely on screaming and fast paced guitar work. It borders on metal.
This takes punk back to when it almost had an “emo/rock” vibe to it. However, the vocals and tone all scream punk. Especially the intense rhythm section. The bass tone is chunky and ever-present. The drummer is extremely impressive. Combine this with the creative guitar work and intense vocals and you’ve got a premium experience. Great album.
