"Spoonful" was written and performed by Willie Dixon and stolen by Clapton. In fact, Clapton learned it by continually restarting an old scratchy 45 by Willie Dixon. Since the recording was so bad Clapton got the words wrong. Same thing happened to Cream when it learned Robert Johnson's "Crossroads." Again, Clapton couldn't hear the words correctly.
