What a great week at camp we had. Just as Summer solstice slams us with record heat, the camp treasure chest opens its casket to uncover a rare combination of quality gems. I left town last Thursday for a family trip (camping outside of bandcamp) with limited cell reception and got bits and pieces of what others were raving about. I was overwhelmed with intense listening pleasure upon my return and present below for those who don’t already know.
Elara – Deli Bal
Although this one wasn’t released while I was away, my long awaited vinyl I ordered weeks back was waiting for me at the door. This thing is something special. Not only is the artwork spectacular but the overall aura of the album will sweep you off your feet. It will likely end up in my top albums of the year listings if nothing changes.
I'm with Sludgeburner on this one. Top shelf progressive heavy psych rock. Elder is a great comparative band if you need to know before pushing play. Super melodic progressive rock, clean vocals, instrumentally expansive song structure with an overwhelming impression on all fronts. It would be foolish not to place these guys in the same regard as some of the other heavy hitters of the style such as Elder.
“Sludgeburner Elara are in the psych rock elite”
Nekromant – Snakes and Liars
We here at the Ripple Effect were huge supporters of Serpent, which was the band’s previous moniker. Neckromant pick right off where the Serpent slivered from. Boy is this one cracker of an album. I foresee a big future ahead for these guys. We are all watching close as you all should be as well.
Serpent have shed their snake skin revealing a debut full length in new form as Nekromant. It's no lie, this album maintains the metallic luster the band is known for casting, and continues on the saga of proto-drenched doom vocals forged by heavy metal riffs, brooding solos and pile driving rhythm.
Gravy Jones – Funeral Pyre
So this one came kind of out of nowhere. The name is definitely an eye catcher and the sound is even catchier. Catchy if you like heavy occult organ driven madness. Gravy Jones will have you jonesing for some biscuits in no time.
Gravy Jones serves up a psychotic platter of organ driven doom. The garage inspired riffs ooze with psychedelic effect as the organ entombs us with jangly punk meets tripped out doom.
Egypt – Cracks and Lines
Egypt may or may not need much of an introduction. Hailing from Fargo, North Dakota they have also released new material just this week. The album is a great mixture of hard edged blues in the tone of epic sludge-soaked rock and roll. Vinyl coming at us soon the 5-song set is no slouch. Clocking in well long enough to slather 2 sides of a 12 inch disc with blistering doom.
Sasquatch – Maneuvers
Who here wasn’t excited to find out of a new Sasquatch release? Well earlier this week was the big day as Sasquatch unleashed the brand new self-released album to the masses. Holy god damn shit this thing blew my mind from the first riff to the last. Perhaps their greatest effort yet sitting at album #5, not many bands can claim to have 5 excellent albums under their belt. Sasquatch have not reinvented the wheel nor fixed the sounds there fans have all grown to love. In fact Sasquatch just piled on more riffs and a second helping of groove shoving them straight to the top of the album charts in the heavy underground. No doubt Sasquatch will be one of the year’s favorites in the genre. Snag a vinyl copy while you still can.
Sasquatch successfully maneuvers its way through a perilous flat spin of grandiose fuzz. Powered by progressive stoner distortia and state of the art vocal delivery, the bearded beast of the desert engages its target and deploys a massive assault of absolute riffage.
This edition may intimidate some due to its magnificent strength, but take that with a grain of hops and slam some beers to sooth the rays of the summer sun. Or like me, slam a couple sparkling ice waters (I went sober) and crank the volume up to maximum ventilation. It’s getting hot outside and the music is about to break the circuit boards with a wave of fiery groove.

On June 29th, dark electric dance rock duo, Crashing Hotels will release 150 extremely rare and collectable “Bone Records” in support of their 2nd spring single, ‘Tsunami’ from their sophomore album, “Exploration Exploitation” via the announcement of their Kickstarter campaign. Pressed in the Czech Republic on 150 hand selected, unique human x-rays, the Tsunami 7” single pays homage to the Soviet Union music enthusiasts who resisted their government’s attempt to eradicate art and music from their lives. During the 1950’s the Soviet Union was experiencing severe censorship of the arts, along with an extreme shortage of raw materials used in music duplication due to the Cold War. This led to people living without art and music and an innate human need for self expression exploded out of the underground. People began to risk 3-5 year prison sentences to produce, buy, and distribute illegal western Jazz and Rock & Roll.
The Tsunami 7” is a ghostly reminder that America once invented Jazz and Rock & Roll, but now is a place with bare-bones support of the arts. A society lacking invention and design looking for copycat acts who gain the most amount of clicks. This derivative culture is choking the life out of the arts and Crashing Hotels is the resistance. This is not only a press release for the band’s 2nd spring single, but an urgent reminder to support and engage with the arts, because they are fading away, right in front of your eyes.
About the song
‘Tsunami’ is an expression of respect for the rareness of life and immense energy that struck the eastern coast of Japan at 2:46pm on March 11th, 2011. The mournful lyrics echo atop Wu-Tang like, dance production with the energy and consistency of an optimistic haunting. A song as dark as it is bright, the melody and cadence of ‘Tsunami’ is meant to emotionally inspire listeners to dance and sing along with the band, so that they as well can share their love and respect for the lives lost on March 11th, 2011.

French heavy-psych rockers Domadora to reissue 'The Violent Mystical Sukuma' album for vinyl edition
As announced a few weeks ago : about a year after the release of their acclaimed second full-length effort 'The Violent Mystical Sukuma' for CD/digital formats, French 70's Heavy-Psych Rockers Domadora is gonna to reissue the album for vinyl edition through the Germany-based label Kozmik Artifactz (Cortez, Fuzz Manta, The Great Khan, Son Of A Witch...) on July 14th.
In the meantime, the band just unveiled a brand new music video for the song "Rocking Crash Hero", available right now on YouTube, while 'The Violent Mystical Sukuma' is still available CD / Digital formats on Bandcamp and the main legal platforms (iTunes, Deezer, Amazon...). + full streaming at the same location or SoundCloud.
Pre-order the album for vinyl format on Kozmik Artifactz webstore | Have a look on the "Rocking Crash Hero" music video | Get your CD / digital copy + stream the full album on Bandcamp
For the record...
Influenced by the 60's and 70's vibes from Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin, Heavy Psych/Rock/Stoner power-trio from France Domadora delivers psychedelic stoned jams since its birth around the shade of bands such as Fatso Jetson or Karma to Burn.
In 2013, the band released its debut full-length album acclaimed by both critics and public and then toured massively with big names such as Pentagram, Baroness, Earthless of Yawning Man before to work again on a new record.

NAPALM RECORDS, MOONSPELL and Alma Mater Records (band’s owned label) are proud to announce that there will be three shows in Portugal for the release of MOONSPELL’s new album '1755': a concept album, sung in Portuguese, about the Great Lisbon Earthquake, of 1755.
They will have a double date hometown- show in Lisbon where you enjoy the band's annual Halloween party as well as watching the show. On the 1st of November MOONSPELL will take the event to the city of Porto, as part of the '1755' first three announced dates:
30th + 31st Oct - LISBOA AO VIVO, LISBON
1st Nov - HARD CLUB, SALA 1, PORTO
These very special gigs will be produced by the band themselves in partnership with Alma Mater Records and in collaboration and with total support from their main label Napalm Records.
At the shows you will have the chance to buy the upcoming record exclusively and straight from the band and watch them destroy Lisbon and Porto. The ticket holder will get a free CD or vinyl edition (first 500 tickets, the edition will be signed by the band!). The new album '1755' will hit the stores on the 3rd of November in Europe via Napalm Records. Presales will be announced soon, but you can already get your ticket to Lisbon and Porto right now!
More info about tickets, reservations and information at:
Limited regular tickets for sale coming in September.
VIP Wolfpack deals are available, please contact:
Says the band:
„On these shows we’re gonna play 1755 in its entirety but also recover some obscure stuff we haven’t been playing for many years.
1755 is a poetic, musical and philosophical reflection of the band about the tragic event that took place on the 1st of November of 1755 in Lisbon, decimating the entire city.
It’s mostly a Metal record, with vibrant riffs, epic orchestration and vocals and lyrics which invoke the agony of that day. The band was also concerned in recreating the end of the 18th century Lisbon and there will be lots of fusion, percussion and a melodic approach to that time and to the atmosphere the great city of Lisbon enjoyed back then.
There will be ten powerful, surprising songs that echo remotely to some of Moonspell previous efforts like Under the Moonspell or alpha Noir. But make no mistake! This is MOONSPELL as you never heard them before, with the fire of their native Language Portuguese and 900 years of History to unveil!
An historical, rigorous, serious, artistic record. A black beast from Portugal that the Metal scene so craves for.“

Preconceived notions will get you every time waveriders, even if those notions stem from extensive knowledge and experience. Case in point, the debut album Boy Thursday from the band Knives. Through advance e-mailings I knew that this newly created musical entity featured Mr. J Medeiros, a terrific hip-hop emcee I've been following for years, on vocals and that the music produced could be categorized as rap rock. Being a fan of Mr. J Medeiros, rap music, and rock 'n' roll I was awfully excited to hear the final product.
In my head I imagined I'd be listening to something demonstrably similar to a band near and dear to my heart, Rage Against The Machine. When Boy Thursday released however, I was thrown a curve ball. Yes there was rapid-fire lyric delivery over aggressive metallic instrumentation but the musical direction Knives chose to follow took me by surprise. These songs rely on a bedrock of high octane hardcore punk, not the groovy mid-tempo blueprint of most rap rock I've encountered. That said the title track sounds strikingly similar to RATM's song "Wind Below", only with more urgency.
Speaking of urgency I'm concerned that I have failed to convey my enthusiasm for this fine album. Boy Thursday is an unrestrained jolt of electricity to my eardrums! All ten songs on the record are powerful but a few stand out. "Sucker Punch", "Figurehead Catacombs", "Give Me Air", and "Wylin Inside" all blister with enough energy to rival a star collapsing into supernova.
Waveriders, if you're looking for propulsive new tunes your search has ended. Knives will readily galvanize anyone who comes into contact with Boy Thursday, their robust debut album. Give this record a listen. You'll be glad you did!

See and listen here the brand new single "Abyssviand" by Dubai's very own extreme metal masters NERVECELL taken from the band's forthcoming album "Past, Present...Torture", which is set to be released on August 25th via Lifeforce Records.
“Past, Present…Torture” marks the group’s third full-length and is the successor of “Psychogenocide” from 2011. The album consists of 13 tracks and is the most extreme and versatile NERVECELL record to date. The title speaks for itself, focusing on the state of the world and where we are all headed as a civilization.
“Past, Present…Torture” serves as a concise summary for both, the lyrical message and the musical direction. Offering unpleasant truths and a rigorous death metal sound. Just as you know and expect from the beast from the Middle East...NERVECELL!

Currently on tour across Canada with metal legends ANNIHILATOR (dates listed below), Montreal thrash champions MUTANK unleash their new EP "W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T." via Boonsdale Records, which is now available as of June 16th. The new EP from the 2014 Wacken Metal Battle Canada winners is short, but sweet to follow their debut cassette EP "M.E.C.H. Metal" and is a taste of what's to come from the band's full length planned to be unleashed later this year.
Vocalist/bassist Stephen Reynolds comments:
"It is with sinister pride we begin the next stage of "MU WORLD ORDER" with the release of our new EP W.H.A.T.S.T.H.AT. The human language is not equip to describe what will come next but one thing is certain: it's time to mosh!"
The five track demolisher "W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T." was produced with Topon Das (Fuck The Facts) and is a step up from what people have heard from MUTANK thus far. The title of the EP "W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T." stands for "We Have Alottta Thrash Songs That Have Abbreviated Titles" and came to be first as joke for the band.
Reynold adds "I just thought it would be funny to force an acronym for ‘what’s that?’ and I came up with ‘We Have Alottta Thrash Songs That Have Abbreviated Titles’. From there we came up with the concept of an EP with a bunch of forced acronym titles. The EP itself was written somewhat conceptually with the individual songs being very short thrash songs that come together to make one longer progressive thrash track, which harkens back to the title since we don’t even know what it is!"
"W.H.A.T.S.T.H.A.T." is now available for CD order and digital download at the following link: https://mutankthrash.bandcamp.com/album/w-h-a-t-s-t-h-a-t
plus all major online retailers such as iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, etc.

This band from Santa Ana, CA is comprised of Thomas Monroe (vocals), John Castellon (guitar), Steve Shell (bass), and Steve Ybarra (drums). They've been playing shows since February 2016 and have two releases out now with Theotokos being the newest.
The band has a ‘90s alternative sound to them, but not enough to make them sound retro or tired, more like familiar, which is good since being a new band, having that sound, makes you think that you’ve known them a long time. They have a very sexy and cool swagger to their music, kind of walking in and knowing that they’re right and about what they’re doing, not that stupid “swag” that kids think is hip nowadays. The band is tight, the vocals are clear, crisp and full of energy and don’t overpower the music, matter of fact, everything is mixed perfectly and has more than enough juice to light up a city, not to mention your ears. The mix of alternative and metal work together far better on here than on most of the other albums that I’ve heard try to mix it up; usually it becomes a battle of which one takes over the song/album, but these guys temper the mix perfectly. The more that I listened to this album, the more that they reminded me of Jane’s Addiction, mostly in the music, not the vocals so much, but not to the point of being copyists.
If you have a soft spot for ‘90s music, or just want to hear a band that has their shit together and can play the hell out of their instruments with feeling and conviction, then you need to grab this one. If they keep on this path, there is no doubt that people will catch on and they will become powerhouses.

HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS Records&Booking is really proud to welcome in the HPS family the Heavy Psychedelic-Space-Metalz masters
***TURN ME ON DEAD MAN***
TMODM are an heavydelic space rock band from San Francisco. Turn Me On Dead Man combines Heavy Metal and Psychedelia to forge a music that is both transcending and unforgettable. The songwriting plunges listeners into the heavydelic landscapes of 60's experimentalism and 70's bombast, creating a disc that is enthralling, imaginative, hugely entertaining, and incredibly hard rocking!
The group have been creating their unique brand of lysergic-soaked rock since their inception in 2000, gigging extensively throughout the San Francisco bay area and garnering praise from all over their home turf and the country, spurred on by heavy rotation at the influential WFMU station in New Jersey. Alternative Tentacles founder Jello Biafra was suitably impressed by the band's spaced-out, glammed-up, turned-up brand of audio mayhem enough to re-release their first epic record, "God Bless the Electric Freak" on A.T.!
Live, Turn Me On Dead Man is a spectacle of epic proportions; a visceral sonic boom that spans the spectrum from the meanest, most gorgeous anthems of rock to the exotic ragas of modern psych, creating an explosive and diverse stage performance as energetic as it is uncommon. Simply put, Turn Me On Dead Man plays Heavy Crush Bliss Rock breaking the sound barrier on their own private Lear Jet headed straight to HELL!
The bands twin guitar harmonization, melodic rhythmic switchbacks and trippy apocalypto- mystical lyricism keep California's psychedelic rock tradition alive
"Mind melt music for the sick and twisted, heavydelic super rock for the ultimate freak out"
HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS Records quote:
It's almost two years we are dealing with the band, and finally we reached the point. TMODM is finally part of the HPS Records family!! Their sound and attitude reflect a lot which is the label target in terms or Space Rock, Psychedelic Rock and Heavy Rockness
DEADSMOKE are coming back brothers and sisters!!
We can honestly say that with all the new wave of Doom-Sludge bands out in these last years
Deadsmoke recorded one of the best debut album we can remember.
Influenced by the sounds of Sleep, Bongzilla, Electric Wizard the band just added a powerful element to the sound of the band, let in a new band member: Claudio Rocchetti (already in "In Zaire"on Synthesizers. With the new line up the band entered in studio last month to record an incredible sophomore album...more details will be released soon!
Mind-numbingly heavy, TARLUNG create thick, ponderous sludge that's sure to make your day. Check out this underrated band from Austria setting new standards of heaviness in the style. Stream their entire album AT THIS LINK.
- "organic and visceral" - METAL NA LATA 9/10
- "a weighty album of growling malevolence and despair" - DESERT PSYCHLIST
- "drag the listener to dark places" - VOID
- "cover dark and esoteric themes" - DOOMED TO DARKNESS
Dense and suffocating, TARLUNG's music crawls along ponderously, squeezing the life out of its listeners. This kind of expression in sludge is rarely done but ends up being most satisfying. The riffs command the direction, as within the mire of the deafening sludge you have catchy hooks and memorable tunes. Influences from closely related genres such as death metal and even stoner doom coalesce to form their monolithic sound. This is the band's latest full length album and it lays waste to everything else they've done before. Listen to one of the heaviest albums in this style and quiver under its might.

The album cover making the cover of today’s bonanza takes you to another place. Personally I love the high desert landscape as it puts me at ease. We have a variety of styles featured today all of which also put me at ease in a way that only music can.
BJ Wilbanks – BJ Wilbanks
BJ Wilbanks was recommended by a friend on facebook and I ate it right up. Ordered the vinyl after a few full listens as it just has that sound that yearns for crooning away on the turntable.
Soulful, countrified southern blues screaming total class while gently tugging the heartstrings of authentic Americana meets rock n roll. Fans of Chris Stapleton take note.
The Teskey Brothers – Half Mile Harvest
I was sold right off the bat with these guys. I would normally have ordered the vinyl, however I’m sort of on a new budget trying to get my finances organized and really pushing myself to hold back on the vinyl buys. But even though it’s quite pricey to import from Australia, it is well worth it. Right off the bat you get a bit of an Allman Brothers blues vibe, but with perhaps a bit more soul injected. I played all the albums from The Teskey Brothers repeatedly the other day upon discovery. You should too.
Caves of Utah – Caves of Utah
Caves of Utah is a project by a somewhat prolific artist it turns out after diving in further to the band.
This Billy Fridrich dude is quite prolific. Just as his other project Axis/Orbit piqued our attention with its garage/psych/rock amalgamation, Caves of Utah blister the sunset with a rather melodic approach. The cave walls are etched with metallic solos, sun stained vocal croons, and tinted with a film of grunge as the diversity between each song carries its tone into the desert horizon.
Slingshot – A Period of Reflection
This popped up on my bandcamp feed the other day and seemed worth checking out. Boy was I glad I did. Being released in 2013 normally has me scratching my head wondering how I haven’t heard of them yet, and offered at name your price the band was off to a great start. Fast forward to multiple listens from the 2 full lengths offered up and my mind was completely blown. Be sure to listen to their latest one as well. Top quality stuff guys!
Slingshot rear back the whip and let loose a progressive cannon of heavy groove propelled by quality song craft, soaring riffs and a golden vocal rasp. This ain't your everyday stoner rock folks. This is something special. Mindblower alert!!
Void Commander – Shrooming Window
Shrooming Window is an interesting concept and a killer piece of music at that. The tracks are massive on this baby. It starts out extremely fuzzy with an occult like doom vocal, high on low end and as the album progresses the psychedelic elements begin to peak just as coming into a trip off a bag of shrooms. This is still hovering in my wishlist at the current time, again budgeting is a bitch, but you should give this your full attention. It really gets better the deeper and deeper into the trip
Hope you enjoyed this edition of Buckys Bandcamp Bonanza and see you in another week.

The Black Seeds Announce New Album 'Fabric' Due Out on Easy Star Records September 8th, 2017 || North American Tour Kicks Off Today!
‘The best reggae band in the world right now’
– Rolling Stone Germany
‘Almost like the changing of the seasons, you can count on The Seeds to rock into your town and deliver an uplifting concoction of reggae, dub and funk with their own ingenious twist’
– Otago Daily Times
‘One of the best live reggae acts on the planet’
– Clash Music
‘The forefront of reggae today and tomorrow’
On the eve of their 10-date US / Canadian tour, The Black Seeds announce their long-awaited sixth studio album to the world: Fabric, which will be their first album in over five years, is set to be released in North America via Easy Star Records on September 8th, 2017. The album features their brand new single “Better Days” which marked a triumphant return in May. The new record is available for pre-order via digital platforms as well as physical CD and double LP via the Easy Star web store.
To celebrate, the band has shared a lyric video for the new single, created by Mark Russell (renegadepeach.com) & Owen Watts (themakersinitiative.com). Watch the time-lapsed footage here or below, featuring stunning scenes from their homeland Aotearoa.
After a couple of years touring the world and juggling festival slots, The Black Seeds focused their efforts throughout 2016 and 2017 on the recording of their new studio album. The sessions for Fabric took place at acclaimed engineer/producer and long-time Black Seeds collaborator, Lee Prebble's Wellington studio The Surgery. The result is a twelve-track album of bold, groove-heavy tunes that demonstrate the multiple facets of what makes The Black Seeds who they are, set over a classic dub/reggae foundation.
It wouldn’t be a Black Seeds record without the warm affirmations of Weir and Weetman’s words, which we hear right from top to tail. The uplifting album opener “Better Days” ensures us that ‘better days are coming, lonely nights are leaving,’ while tracks like “The Weaver” remind us that love will conquer all pain.
The kinetic energy within the album is physically infectious, and makes you want to move with them. There are times where we dip into a gorgeous nostalgic homage to the late 70s/early 80s r&b-funk era with songs like “Freakin” or the bass-heavy groove of “Everybody Knows.” Overall, there is a grand expansiveness that sets over the track list, allowing for each song to breathe and exist on its own, but also comfortably within the context of the wider picture. This shows The Black Seeds’ limitless creative energy for what it is - always moving forward and progressing without compromising the soul of who they are, while always remaining conscious of the current world around them.

Brian Pitt - Drums
Lee Pitt - Guitar
Sarah Pitt - Vocals
This band coming from Florida arose in 2015. Smoke Mountain is Sarah Pitt on vocals, Sarah's husband Lee Pitt on guitar and Lee’s brother Brian on drums.
In May they relased their self titled EP, written and produced by the band but mastered by the well known Carl Saff (Attala, LoPan). On the record Lee plays bass but during the live shows they skip it. These three songs are a good introduction for me and I'm eager to hear some more from the band in the future.
The first song ”Demon” introduces the listener to the EP with a sampling about witches before a catchy melody kicks in. I love the dirty, fuzzed out main riff and the airy-fairy constant drum beat.
It surrounds the fuzz laden sound and the lovely haunting voice of Sarah. I love how her voice is mixed to be the focal point of the record, but I don't feel like the vocals are overproduced. She’s guiding the listener through the heavy yet catchy fuzzed out melody in a delightful way. Maybe it's the family bond creating an immense chemistry between the band? At least that's what I hear.
“Violent Night”, the next song, is my favorite. It has a howling guitar-figure in the beginning and a massive deluge of doom riffs hammering into your ear canal during the rest of the song before the sweetest Black Sabbath riff Iommi never wrote kicks in. I’m also impressed how the guitar and cymbal crashes are fit into the song. It's the sweetest perfection
On ”Smoke Mountain” Sarah's voice is outstanding once again. She attacks the harsh lyrics with a spooky vibe. The first time I listened to it I was lying in bed trying to sleep but during the song I needed to light my bedroom lamp because I thought she was singing from the top-point of my bed. It was certainly a time to look over your shoulder not only once but twice! Thankfully I realized her haunting voice only exists in my head. The lo-fi distorted sound makes me shiver inside my bones and this is the best tribute to the classic old doom-bands in a long time.
This isn’t something new and many band have sounded like this before but still I’m in urgent need of more songs from the band. It’s an overwhelming rendezvous of modern Doom and Stoner Metal and I really hope this band will give us a full length album soon.
